Ceiba is raising money to protect Ecuador’s ultra-rare cloud forest ecosystem. Despite being home to incredible wildlife and serving as a vital water source for nearby communities, these forests have faced rampant deforestation for decades. According to some estimates, only 2% of Ecuador’s original cloud forest remains.
At the heart of this ecosystem lies El Pahuma Orchid Reserve, home to hundreds of orchid species and a remarkable diversity of wildlife. Its forests connect important habitat for wildlife like the Andean spectacled bear, allowing them to move between forested areas in search of food and shelter.
