Ceiba leads conservation, research, and education programs in Ecuador, a small country in northwestern South America located on the equator. Ecuador hosts a variety of ecosystems and contains some of the most biodiverse places on earth. The country has four main regions, the coast, located along the Pacific Ocean, the Sierras, which are made up of the Andes Mountains, the Amazon, the lowland tropical rainforests in the east, and the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is also home to many diverse cultures and cuisines.
Our projects focus on Cloud Forests, in the Andes Mountains near Quito, and on Tropical Dry Forests in the Manabí Province along the Pacific Coast. We work closely with local communities to find innovative solutions to conserving ecosystems and biodiversity by promoting forest protection, sustainable land management, and community development.
