Ceiba Science Communication Scholarship

The Ceiba Science Communication Scholarship is a needs and merit based scholarship for $500 to assist students with program fees associated with Ceiba’s Study Abroad Programs.

Please note: the scholarship is not deducted directly from the UW program tuition, but can be used for additional expenses such as required gear, vaccinations and flight ticket purchases.

The 2026 application deadline is Wednesday, November 12.

As a deliverable for the scholarship, Science Communicators will submit 1 social media post per month throughout the semester. Science Communicators are free to collaborate with other students, instructors or staff to obtain content for social media. Ceiba’s Communications Coordinator will be the main point of contact for Science Communicators.

Student Ambassador Application Form:

The form below includes questions about scholarship needs, experience and interest in communications in addition to asking you to create a sample post using a photo from past study abroad programs.

Post descriptions should be between 75-100 words. Indicate which photo you selecting and imagine you’re a student on this trip, then use your creativity to develop a description or story behind the photo! We’re less concerned with getting specific details right about what actually happened in the photo and more interested in reading engaging content. Feel free to check out Ceiba’s social media to see examples of content we’ve posted (ceibafoundation).
